History Special Interest Group in Security and Information inteGrity was started by a group of young and enthusiastic professionals in the information security field. SIG^2 or SIG2 (pronounced as "seeg square" or "seeg 2" respectively) is a vendor-neutral, not-for-profit society. The society was registered in Singapore on 27 June 2001 with 100 odd members mainly from her founding corporate sponsors. The gazette notification effecting this was published in the Singapore Government Gazette on 6 Jul 2001 vide Notification Number 1813. Today Today, SIG^2 is the leading Information Technology Security (ITSec) society in Singapore and South Asia. She has went beyond being an informal forum of exchange that she was originally setup for. Now, she has became the VOICE for all ITSec professionals and enthusiasts.SIG^2 has participated in and contributed actively to every major National ITSec initiatives. She has also started various initiatives to consolidate Singapore as the regional hub for ITSec. For instance, SIG^2 has setup G-TEC and launched the first independent security test lab in Singapore and Asia-Pacific. She has also embarked on an ambitious plan to build an ITSec Career roadmap that focused on ITSec continuing education and building a baseline for ITSec professionals through her Centre for Competency. The recognition of, and support for SIG^2 are further buttressed with the backing of her sponsors, who are in their own rights, leading ITSec organizations in the industry. With her many initiatives and her success, SIG^2's enthusiasm has rubbed off the international ITSec community. As a result, the society shas established various tie-ups and alliance with regional ITSec communities. In fact, SIG^2 is highly sought after for endorsement of ITSec events not only in Singapore but in Malaysia and even as far as Hong Kong! Currently, membership stands over 500, not including affiliate chapters in tertiary education institutes. Objectives of SIG^2
