SIG^2 Event - "Rethinking Security" with Michael Chua

Michael using a unique presentation style, bring our members through an an analysis of the current practice of protecting information systems against intrusions. In a night we enacted the roles of the CEO, CSO, Sysadmin etc, members learnt and interact with each other and have fun!

About the Speaker
Michael Chua is the Founding President and CEO of Westfield Computers Ltd, incorporated in England since 1988, specializing in information security. He has more than seventeen years' experience in the IT and information security industry and has consulted on a wide range of business systems strategies and hands-on implementation on various computer applications in governmental, manufacturing, process control, oil exploration, financial and management environments. He has advised Director Generals of key government departments and Board of Directors of major corporations around the world. To date, his assignments have taken him to eleven countries across the four continents of Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

He is an inducted member of the Boston Historical Society's International Who's Who Directory (est. 1928), a member of British Computer Society's 28 peer-reviewed experts world-wide Register of Security Consultants; the only vetted information security specialist in the UK Expert Witness Register; and a member of the Asian Professional Security Association, APSA.

Some of his more notable clients include: Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATs), The European Commission, the South African Government, RHB Bank, Barclays Corporate PLC, Chase-Fleming, Shell, Belgacom and S.W.I.F.T. With S.W.I.F.T., the level of security was of the highest order, as it involved more than US$6 trillion worth of transactions per day.

Michael holds an MSc (IT) from the University of Keele, UK (1999); a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (1987) and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia (1985); a Diploma in Management Studies from the Institute of Supervisory Management (1982), UK; and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Singapore Polytechnic (1980).

Lately, Michael has been interviewed by Mediacorp Singapore Radio, CNBC, the Singapore Straits Times, Computer Times, the Asian Computer Weekly and the Malaysian New Straits Times on information security. He has contributed articles in journals like: BCS Computing, Fire & Security, Mimos Mind, the Asean Bankers, International Who's Who and Today's Manager. He was featured in the Straits Times (20th Sep 02) "Movers & Stayers" section and was quoted by DPM Lee Hsien Loong (30th Sep 02) at the NUS graduation ceremony as an example of a returnee Singaporean.
