SIG^2-NUS MOU Signing Press Release
On Tuesday, 4 October 2004, SIG^2 together with The National University of Singapore (NUS) Computer Centre and the School of Computing has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). SIG^2 ITSEC Recruitment Seminar 2004
SIG^2, in conjunction with NUS and sponsored by DSO National Laboratories, Microsoft, Sensecurity Institute and Quantiq International hosted a first ITSEC Recruitment to answer questions about the local ITSEC industry and what does an ITSEC professional job entails. It was held just before Chinese New Year 2004 to bring in the festive mood!

HITB Security Conference CTF teams
SIG^2 participated into the CTF with Snooq and Don Juan leading 2 teams of 5 in the first CTF in S.E Asia!

SIG^2 is the official supporting organization for Hong Kong's Information Security Summit 2003, which was concluded on 18 November 2003 successfully.

Aloysius to speak in keynote of Rethinking Security Conference 2003

SIG^2-Republic Polytechnic MOU Signing Ceremony
SIG^2 and Republic Polytechnic will be signing a MOU this 17 November. SIG^2 will support Republic in their endeavours to focus on security in their diploma programme. In addition, in accordance to this MOU, all students in Republic's Cypher club will be associate student members with SIG^2. The signiing ceremony will be attended by our Vice-President, Chew Keong and Secretary, Samuel.

SIG^2 shows her commitment to educate the public of security features of Linux
SIG^2 is the supporting organization for the Linux User's Day, which is to be held on 17 Nov at 4 polytechnics: Ngee Ann, Nanyang, Republic and Temasek. SIG^2 will be submitting a speaker each for each polytechnic. The volunteer speakers from SIG^2 are: Khoh Chih Jeun (POC), Chuang Shyne Hong, Kan Tat Wee and Seng Guan Lee. Aloysius to speak in HK's Information Security Summit 2003
Aloysius, our president, will be speaking at the above conference, which is to be held from 17-18 Nov. He will be speaking on "Security in Next Generation Mobile Phones".

SIG^2 and Aloysius featured in Synthesis Journal 2003
SIG^2 and Aloysius, our president, are featured in a paper outlining the security landscape of Singapore. Synthesis Journal is an annual publication by the Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC), an industry partnership supported by SPRING Singapore and IDA, to promote the wider use and acceptance of infocomm standards by the industry, in this case, through updating and informing the industry about the latest standards. The journal will be available at the end of the year.

NTU IT Week & Network Security Competition
NTU is having her annual IT Week 2003 from 11th to 16th of August 2003. The event is organised by NTU Students Union (NTUSU) and Network Technology Research Centre (NTRC). SIG^2 is the official supporting organization for the event. For NTU's IT Week, SIG^2 members Lin Yih, Aloysius Cheang and Christopher Low spoke at the IT Security Seminar series. As a finale to the event, a Network Security Competition will be held. The competition is opened to all tertiary students. For more details, visit http://www.ntusu.org.sg/nsc/. SIG^2 volunteers turned out in full force to judge the event, with Aloysius as the chief judge.

Official Launch of Garage for Technical Excellence and Collaboration (G-TEC)
SIG^2 is pleased to announce the offical launch of the Garage for Technical Excellence and Collaboration, or G-TEC for short. The formation of G-TEC is in line with our core values in looking for ways to improve our technical competency and improve our depth of knowledge. G-TEC will provide avenues for members to interact among themselves and do knowledge sharing aka the way that security professionals are doing overseas in Europe and US - in their garage. Hence, G-TEC will host all SIG^2's research studies, surveys, labs and workshops, and any collaborative initiatives! G-TEC will be made available on the front page of SIG^2, on the right frame below "Fresh out out the Oven" for easy access.

SIG^2 activities can now earned you CPEs!
SIG^2 has the pleasure to announce that SIG^2 events can now accrue CPE credits! SIG^2 is now a trusted provider with (ISC)2, starting from February 2003, where (ISC)2 constituents (CISSPs & SSCPs) can earn CPEs while attending SIG^2 events by:
1) Posting them individually in the traditional fashion at (ISC)2 web site. Such CPEs should be entered in the Professional Association Chapter Meetings section and the entry SIG^2 should be made in the "Other" space and the "Number of Hours of Participation". The actual date of the event and applicable domain is entered at the top of the form in the "General CPE Credit Information" section. Or,
2) SIG^2 may submit CPEs on behalf of its members that are (ISC)2 constituents (Please see per event announcement whether is SIG^2 submitting for your behalf, the default mode is that you submit CPEs yourself as in method 1).

SIG^2 members who qualify for CPEs can backdate all the events that you have attended to Jul 2002 (last AGM date), providing it is within your CPE accounting year.
