SIG^2 Extra-ordinary Meeting - Discussion on AINSEP
This meeting is to discuss with SIG^2 members on the committee's decision to
dissolve SIG^2, as a society, to form the National Body or Association for
Information Risk and Security Professionals (codename AINSEP).
As early as 2003, SIG^2 floated the intent to form a professional
charter for information security practitioners. In 2004, the Infocomm
Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore and SIG^2 were actively
involved in the laying the cornerstones necessary for such a charter.
By early 2006, the SIG^2 committee and AINSEP participating partners
deemed the conditions suitable for the establishment of the national
charter.
In May 2006, the Committee convened and voted to dissolve SIG^2, as a
society, to form the Association of Information Risk
and Security Professional (AINSEP). The decision was reached after
rigorous deliberation and utmost care were taken to ensure the interests
of SIG^2 were preserved (the minutes will be presented during the EGM).
In accordance to the SIG^2 constitution, the committee called this EGM
with the following agenda:
(1) Introduction to AINSEP, its partners and SIG^2 participation
(2) Value proposition by IDA to SIG^2 on forming AINSEP
(3) Due diligence exercised by the committee
(4) Impact and changes to SIG^2 constitution and existing projects
(5) Arrangements and your rights under AINSEP
(6) Key benefits to SIG^2 members under AINSEP
(7) Timeline and milestones to forming AINSEP
(8) AOB
For more details, read the EGM minutes here!

SIG^2 Inaugural
Event
The turnout at SIG^2's Inaugural Event at DSTA Auditorium on 13
September exceeded our expectations. 140 people turned up and signed up
on the spot as members. Processing all these registrations pushed back
our program's start by half an hour. There were also not enough refreshments
and snacks, because we had originally expected and catered for 40 persons.
While this unexpectedly high level of response was a good sign, we also
recognize that we could have been better prepared to handle this contingency.
Apologies - we will be better prepared next time.
